Really asshole?
Man do I hate motivational clichés. How ridiculous of a concept. I do agree that everyone needs inspiration and words like this so exactly that, but let's be honest here at least. Saying its never too late for anything is a lie within itself! Words are powerful, no doubt, but saying things like "you can do whatever you put your mind to" is one of the biggest lies of all time! Shit, my mind can do a whole lot and I don't see mountains being moved or 20 virgins falling from the sky with brand new subarus.
Why can't people inspire without having to use improbable connotations? Set expectations correctly, advise them of the possible outcomes, and point them in the right direction not saying the "sky's the limit" and let them off their leashes.
Why? Cause the sky isn't the limit for most people... Shit its wayyy down there probably around the 4th story building level lol. I might sound negative or cynical but think about it would you tell a quadrapalegic that he can win the new york city marathon if he tries really really hard or tell him he can give it a try and as long as he gives it his all he is a winner?
Which makes not only more sense but is realistically positioned?
I'm not a fan of telling people they can fly if they want it they can barely walk. I'm a fan of telling people they should crawl before they try flying.
You hear these motivational lies all your life and just because two percent of the populous achieved the seemingly impossible it is accepted and ok for the rest of us average people to believe that we could grow wings out of asses if we try hard enough.
I'm a realist. I know what the "average"person can and can't achieve. I also know that life is a motherfucker so in reality anything can really happen, you just can't believe that it can happen to everyone. There are plenty of stories of miracle millionaires, amazing recoveries, etc but does that shit happen to you and me? Nope!
So next time someone tells you that you can do anything as long as you try hard enough you tell them you can also shit yourself if you push hard enough. Lol
